Common Mistakes to Avoid in Class 7 Mathematics
In Class 7, math gets a bit more challenging, but you can do well if you steer clear of these common slip-ups:
- Skipping Steps: Math problems often need to be solved one step at a time. Rushing through can cause errors.
- Not Reading Carefully: Make sure you understand the problem before diving in. Missing details can lead to wrong answers.
- Copying Incorrectly: When copying numbers or equations, do it accurately. Small mistakes in copying can lead to big errors.
- Ignoring Units: For problems with measurements, don’t forget units like inches or seconds. Leaving them out can mess up your answer.
- Confusing Operations: Mixing up things like addition and subtraction can lead to wrong answers. Make sure you’re using the right math rules.
- Not Checking Your Work: Take a moment to review your work after solving a problem. Check your math and make sure your answer makes sense.
- Forgetting Negative Signs: Negative numbers can be tricky. Pay attention to minus signs, especially in addition and subtraction.
- Not Practicing: Math needs practice. Skipping it can make you forget important stuff.
- Relying on Memory Alone: Memorizing formulas is good, but understand how they work too. Pure memorization can make solving new problems tough.
- Avoiding Word Problems: Word problems test how well you can use math in real life. Don’t dodge them; they improve your skills.
- Skipping Diagrams: Pictures help in geometry and more. Use them when they can make things clearer.
- Not Asking for Help: If you’re stuck, ask your teacher or friends for help. Waiting too long can lead to more confusion.
- Last-Minute Cramming: Studying math just before a test might not help much. Regular practice all year is better.
- Ignoring Earlier Lessons: Math builds on what you learned before. If you’re shaky on the basics, advanced stuff can be tough.
A certain freezing process requires that room temperature be lowered from 40 oC at the rate of 5 oC every hour. What will be the room temperature 10 hours after the process begins?
Given: Present room temperature = 40 oC
Decreasing the temperature every hour = 5 oC
Room temperature after 10 hours
= 40 oC + 10 x (–5 oC )
= 40 oC – 50 oC
= – 10 oC
Thus, the room temperature after 10 hours is – 10 oC after the process begins.
What is the standard form of a rational number?

denominator have no common factor other than 1.
What are monomial, binomial or trinomial in Algebraic Expressions?

• Expression with two unlike terms is called a ‘Binomial’.
• Expression with three unlike terms is called a ‘Trinomial’.
The perimeter of a rectangle is 130 cm. If the breadth of the rectangle is 30 cm, find its length. Also, find the area of the rectangle.
Perimeter of rectangle = 130 cm
2 (length + breadth) = 130 cm
2 (length + 30) = 130
length + 30 = 130/2
length + 30 = 65
length = 65 – 30 = 35 cm
Now area of rectangle
= length x breadth
= 35 x 30
= 1050 cm^2
Thus, the area of rectangle is 1050 cm^2.
